I have heat!!!... just in time for spring... and more questions
Flushed my radiator today when I got off work and replaced the thermostat, and for the first time in the 6 months or so that I have had it... It pumped out nice warm heat.
Now I just have to burp it tomorrow where there is sun light again, and figure out what to do with the old antifreeze.
Only 2 issues I have now from that are....
1) check engine light is on, but might be because when I first stared it with the new thermostat, I forgot to connect some wire to it.
How do I reset the check engine light without a code reader?
2) I just drained and filled the radiator and when refilling it only took about 2 gallons of fluid, about a half gallon of that is in the over flow tank.
I think that is it supposed to take about 3 gallons.
How do I get it to fill the rest of the way? Or that extra gallon still sitting in the other parts that I didn't drain (like the engine block, heater core...)?

When your rad is full, leave your cap off, turn your blower motor on high and on heat, and start our engine. Doing this will burp the system but not 100%. After its full put your cap on and let it run to operating temperature.
Im not sure how to reset your ecu with out a scanner, unhook your negative cable from your battery for a few min, when its hooked back up, run your engine and verify no cel.

.....not on a '99 model, as it will burp itself. As mentioned, just let it idle with the cap off for a bit. Over the next couple of days, remove the cap (engine COLD) and add coolant if needed.

Looks like suggestions have all been made.
Like they said.
Take the cap off.
Turn on heat
Let it get up to temp and let run for 10-15 minutes. My open radiator which is the same size i think took nearly 2.5-3 gallons.
