He says I need to add a good ground from battery to block. The first time he saw my jeep and I opened the hood, he made a comment like "I bet it has a weak start" which it sure as hell does, and the battery is new and charging well.

So is this the case? Is this a known issue?

 

Yes its true and yes its known. The grounds are small and they are put on over paint. Grind down were the stock grounds and upgrade to a 4-2 guage wire.

Yep. extremely weak ground system. But these are also OLD vehicles, Its advised you just upgrade all your battery cables. positive and negative!

 

Nothing is really affected by the weak ground. You get bad resistance issues and long cranks due to lack of power to starter but it is 100% operational. I went with a 2 gauge wire and did all the ground and power to the starter, alternator, and fuse box. At the time m alternator had taken a turn south and I upgraded to a ZJ v8 and I really like the quicker starts and the brighter lights.
