I changed my timing chain and sprockets a few days ago and I found this today, I didn't put the spacer on the cam chain (I found it today when I went to throw them I the scrap bin at work) now the question I have is the bolt was done up tight and the cam sprocket has no flex in it at all will it hurt to put it on next weekend ?

Lol.. I do that kind of stuff once in a blue moon too!
At least you know how to re-do it and it won't take long tonight to redo it.
I wouldn't drive it until fixed. The depth on the sprocket bolt is now incorrect and may not be clamping correctly.
At least you don't need to drain the coolant for this project.

Agreed... ^^^ I wouldn't risk driving it until fixed. If I remember correctly, I believe at least the 4.0 is an interference engine.... so you'd be personally inviting a very bad day to come in and sit with you.

^^^ no?... that would be cool if they are non-interference motors.... I just swear I saw somewhere that they were an interference one....but if not, that's a handy thing to know.
I still agree too that I wouldn't drive it until fixed. Why let Murphy in the room if we don't have to.

Here is the list of interference engines...
No.. The Jeep/Chrysler 2.5L and 4.0L are NOT on there as they are NOT interference motors.

Is your Jeep 4.0L/2.5L overhead cam/belt driven? Then no.. Not interference.
Is your Jeep 4.0L/2.5L pushrod/camshaft? Then yes.. Still not interference.
Did AMC care about emmisions quality with aluminum heads and 4 valves per cylinder with overhead cams? Paying attention to upper cylinder combustion? Negative ghost rider... Was AMC concerned about compression ratios above 9 or 10? Newp..
The 4.0/2.5 is an old-school iron lump of pushrod low-tech goodness that drinks gasoline.
