Default I can't figure out what this is...

maybe you can? its mounted to the front bumper on the passenger side and has a hose that goes into the engine bay. the hose is broken by the battery and I'm not sure what its for or where it should go. here are some pictures...

thats your vacuum canister its pretty important it works with the climate controls and some other things i think but yeah id def hook that back up

Yep, it's basically a reservoir for vacuum. I think it may have something to do with the cruise control as well, if so equipped!!

Repair the hose and you should notice your Cherokee "behaves" differently.

yeah. it idles a little higher now and seems to shift better.
