23 a pop is cheap. are they glass? and when you hold the switch on before it 'clicks' youre running both hi and low beams, which is why it seems brighter.
Here is a link to what I ordered. Now that you ask I am not sure if it's glass or not but I sure hope it is. I don't see why the cheapo sylvania lights would be glass and not these ones.

So far, this is a good thread. Good info, and not 10+ pages long.

So this is what I would probably do:

Get these H4 headlights: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/200mm...Q5fAccessories

Toss the bulbs that come w/them in favor of an HID kit:
2 YR warranty (whatever that's worth) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I know it's all ebay stuff, but just wanted to show what's out there. Been looking at all the vendors for a few hours, and they all seem to be about the same stuff.

Here's some cheap projector lamps:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SQUAR...item5ad6a94fce

And the whole kit:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HID-7...item2eaaa490a0

What do you think will yield the best results? I think it's the better Autopal lamps and getting the HID kit elsewhere.

I should say that I am having one problem with the relays on the eautoworks harnessing kit. Basically what's happening is that if I turn on the headlights while the car is on they come on just fine, but if I turn them off while the car is still running all the lights shut off save for the two front headlights. They continue to stay on until I shut the car off then they immediately go off.

I was doing some reading on other forums and they said this is a problem not with the wiring but rather with the cheap relays that came with the harness. My question is, does anyone know of a remedy to fix this? It's not hindering in anyway, but I'd like to shut my lights off without having to turn the car off.

My car also came equipped with the factory with auto shut off lights, and those still work. Do I have to get new relays? And if so where can I find some good ones? I went to a few Autozones and Checkers today as well as other stores and they can't find a matching relay so my only luck is probably going to be online.

I'd get the H4 autopals headlights in the first link you posted, and just a standard stand alone HID kit. I don't know about the quality of the projector headlights on ebay, but I have heard great things about the autopals. I might take out the wiring harness that's in there now when my HID's come in but I just want to make sure that I will not have a catastrophic blowout of all of my lights if I hook the HID kit minus the wiring harness that's in there now.

ok first i didnt feel like reading all of the posts, so sorry if i repeat.

i have a HID kit i bought off ebay i think it is HTUNES or something like that. both high and low beams are fucntional.

there is no reason to upgrade factory harness because the power doesnt come from that. each ballast has its own power and ground supply that hooks directly to the battery. the only part of the factory harness you use is one of the plugs that the headlights plug into. (just for the signal)

i have done several conversions and anyone can feel free to PM me with any questions.

X2.....
I bought the upGraded hraness 90/100W bulbs H4 housing...the whole package.....

Bought a HID kit for my Chevy 2500...long story short...my Chevy makes the jeep look like it has pocket maglite's for headlights.....Those who say they dont need them have not drivin a vehicle with a good Kit. My set for the jeep is on the way....Hids look/function great IF! you pick the right housings and have the beams aimed right...you do not need projector housing for it to be right.....

Now for all those like me who were on the fence with the 1000's of kits on EBAY and not knowing what to buy...Remeber YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!! if you buy a 40 dollar kit thats what you get. mine were 90 shipped Made in Germany...balast are metal not plastic and they kit has a 5 year warranty.www.xenonhidworlds.com i have bought 3 kits so far and about to buy another for my mustang!

How do you like your $40 kit? They kind of all look the same to me. I've seen some vendors who sell the same kit on ebay for less than their own site.

How can you tell? I don't want to pay $90 for a kit that costs $60 somewhere else.

Here's a place that I've read good things about: http://www.vvme.com/hilow-one-beam-i...-44_53_47.html

Also here:

Would you add the relay kit? http://www.vvme.com/relay-harness-fo....html?cPath=20

My friend has HIDs and said no. It only takes 1-2 seconds to light up.

well i bought my first zentec 8000k kit on ebay about 2 years ago, at that time it was like $250. it was a little tricky hooking up (first install) but after it was hooked up i was very happy. one of the ballasts blew after about a month (apparently they are not suppose to touch a metal surface) and it was covered by the warranty. very good customer service.

the second HID kits i got was a htunes 6000k kit on ebay around july. at that time i paid about $150 for it. (this one was for my xj) very easy install. this came with the projector headlights which were CRAP!

DO NOT BUY CHEAP PROJECTOR HEADLIGHTS ON EBAY

i looked for a set about a week ago for my foglights and i noticed the bottom dropped out with prices! about $50 shipped! i am gonna get a matching h3 set for the fogs. they should look pretty tight. surprisingly it is the exact same kits as above for that price.

i am thinking about just ordering like 10 kits so i have enough ballasts to last me awhile . also each kit has a 2 year warranty on bulbs and ballasts which is surprising for the price.

I saw that! That's not bad at all. Some of the ebay sellers have a 1 yr warranty like the vvme kits. I'm still trying to read about a few other kits' reviews on forums. I'm thinking of ordering a set for the jeep now and for my tahoe as well. Might as well save on the shipping. Thanks for info.

Btw, do you have a link for htunes? I couldn't find them on ebay.

well this is where spee-d and i butt heads.. I have 6k HIDs in my rig... I love them! They are a tinge too blue for me, but they work... His silverstars are good for where he lives, the city.. out in the woods where i currently live the HIDs light up everything nice and bright... I'm currently working on replacing my lenses to the hellas, due to my $28 ebay conversions are cracked and i could have goldfish live in them....

I was going to post that your going to loose your high beams with the first kit posted... I've got the bi-zenon kit and all it does is change the angle of the bulb in the lens..
