Default How much weight will my roof hold?

Haveing truble finding how much weight my 1998 sport will hold? The jeep came with a wilderness roofrack and new spare 30" tire i was wondering how much i could load it up like spare gas can camping stuff ect... here is a pic

Well, the vehicle probably weighs about 4000 lbs and the roofs usually crush when they roll inverted, so I'd say, less than 4000 lbs. (Helpful, I know.)

quality of roof rack and how well it is attached are major factors.

It looks like there is an explosion in the background haha!! Sweet! What is that?

Awesome looking XJ man!!!

Only help I can provide it that I used to carry a 33" tire on a 15X8 rim on a Surco roof rack and it held with no problem. That thing easily weighed 80lbs or more.

most likely quite a bit. i dont know alot about jeeps (im super newb) but roof racks are usually attached to structure points of the roof. Its even distributed along the frame. So water cans and camping gear shouldnt be a problem as long as its properly attached and the rack is of good quality.
