yeah 25kpsi sounds right i wasnt sure because i dont usually work on the deisels haha. D.I. is a neat set up though u can have good power and fuel mileage and a good amount of boost if its forced induction and run on the crap fuel they have now haha. ive gotten on of those 2.0 turbo ecotecs to spool like 18-19psi with no ping.

as i am not a disel mechanic i cannot give and in depth explanation. but wat i do know is that the trottle pedal controls the injection pump and from wat i understand the more fuel and pressure you fed the engine the engine speed increases andthe increased engine speed inturn is what draws more air into the system. the combonation of high fuel pressure out of the injector and high compression in the cylinder is what actually ignites the air fuel mix instead of an ignition system with spark plugs like a gas engine. thats why a deisel will run on all kinds of crap like biodeisel which is made from vegitable oil ive heard guys runnin a mix of deisel and used atf but dunno if its true haha. oh yea and deisel fuel is a byproduct of making gasoiline which is kinda funny since here in az its more expensive than gas. haha

i can speak on the 5.9's for sure... air sucks in through the turbo... into the intercooler... out of the intercooler... through a grid heater (kinda replaces glow plugs)... into a intake manifold that seperates the air to each cylinder... from the pedal is a throttle cable like normal but goes to a block with a TPS and im not sure what other sensors... from there it goes to the computer which measures the amount of air is being pushed and adds the correct amount of fuel to match it... by means of the injector pump (CP-3 or VP-44)... there is no butterfly or any means to regulate the amount of air flow mechanically...

oh and Jeff Garmon proved that you can run a diesel on straight used tranny fluid... hes been doing it for years in his personal 12valve... he builds his own trannys and torque conveters so hes left with alot of used fluids! lol...

Ok, my bad, my apology......guess the 5.9 Cummins does not have a throttle body. Most other vehicles have a throttle body that contains a butterfly that regulates the amount of air flow, even most turbo motors.

Well geez guys, just got home a few minutes ago,did not expect this..... um whatever. Like I originally stated I do not know all the technical terminology, but have learned from you and determined that I have a 92 with a multiport fuel injection and a 90 with a throttle body injection,,,,,,If I got that right? didn't want to cause an uproar, anyway like I said the 90 has a aftermarket motor and I am not sure what all has been done to it. Let me explain a little more what is actually causing me trouble. the 90 with the tbi has a nasty hesitation where when I jump on the fuel it hesitates in a big way, coughs, then finally takes off like it has afterburners lit. On the jeep in question it has a switch on the dash going to the tranny? that says "power" or "comfort" I have always left it in the power setting but if I do put it in the comfort setting the hesitation doesn't seem as bad but the jeep then seems to "lug" through the gears, I do not know if this has anything to do with it, all my other jeeps have never had this. what would you look at first to fix this hesitation problem, I am running 31 10.50's with a mild lift(3 inches) and it would be nice to have the power when I ask for it and not 5 seconds later, also has a spectre cold air intake and filter on it, clean, and sometimes makes a slight backfire noise when trying to get through the hesitation cycle.

I would suggest pulling off the throttle body... taking the sensors our and cleaning all of of very good with throttle.body cleaner... that's where I would start... there known for collecting crap over the years...
