Default How much oil can fit in the jeep cherokee 1991 frount and rear axels?

I have a Jeep Cherokee 1991 with 6 cylinders, and I am wondering how much differential fluid I need for the front and read axels. It says to get 75w-90, and I have about half a quart of 80w-90. Can I mix the 80w-90 with the 75w-90?

According to internet lore, you should be okay. Would I recommend it? Not really, unless you are in a pinch.

Usually, the part stores will be able to look up capacity of your differentials. If memory serves, I think it's like 2 quarts in the front (D30) & something like 2+ quarts (C8.25) in the back. Buy 5 bottles (quarts) of the same brand / weight & you'll be fine.

I can only speak for the rear. When I did it it took about 2.5 qts.

Do you have a D35 in the rear ?

That would almost certainly require LSD oil (or an additive)

Specs are in The FSM , or probably Google

The D30 takes not much more than 1 litre

I syringed them out and gave them new oil, doesnt cost much, and diff oil takes a lot of abuse

That's 1.25 quarts in easy terms for the dana 30...Remember, the seals are on the INSIDE of the axle tube, not like the 8.25 at the ends...The capacity is just the center section..
