running 8.5" no driveline vibe at all. We dont pound the crap out of the jeep but it sees pretty regular moderate to heavy trail use. No breakage YET...the only problem is at full droop on the rear the u-joint starts to bind at the t-case end even after some grinder action. Oh and it gets roughly 2-3000 miles a month on the freeway at 70ish with 35s. And before anyone flames me, yes I know i should have a SYE, I say anything over 5 inches should. It just hasnt broke yet so no need for it YET...

i ran 6.5 for 5 years with 33s there are two advantages of the sye or hack and tap less drive line angles and fluid dont come out if you trash the rear shaft with no spare you can still limp home on the front

I ran with out a sye for almost a year on a 6.5 lift. Finally broke rear shaft one day messing around and bought sye and installed it. One of the best mods I've done.

when i had my 6.5" lift on my 88 then i had no SYE and i had no problem, but when i transfered the lift over to my new 94, it vibrated like a mother f***er and the rear shaft would bind on turns at slow speeds. it really matters on the vehicle itself. some can get away with 8" of lift and no SYE some need it at 3" of lift. personal preference but highly recommended if you have 5" of more of lift. if you see any offroading that you will be flexing your rear end then you better be carrying an extra driveshaft of go with a SYE
