how many miles do u get to a tank??
So my 92 xj is bone stock, and I'm only getting about 145 miles to a tank of gas combined highway/city driving. Example I filled up on Sunday took about 12.5 gallons and drove about 30 miles and the gauge was reading 3/4 tank. Then yesterday I drove out of town for work and back which put my odometer at about 165 and my gauge between 1/4 and empty more towards empty. I filled up and it took about 16 gallons. Why am I getting such poor milage?

I get between 240-270 with 245-75-16's and 2 bb. I would run a tank with seafoam first then go ahead with a Tune up of cap, rotor, plugs, and wires. Go from there, that will be only a 70 dollar start. Good luck!

I can get any where from 260 - 275 mile to the tank depending on how hard I drive it and also the brand of gas my 98 XJ does have the 20 gal tank and I do have a 3" lift running 30x9.50-15. You should give yours a good tune up. At least that's what I would start with

I usually fill up after 300 miles when the fuel gauge is sitting about 1/4. So I could probably go another 100 miles. Most of my driving is highway.

i was getting that kind of mileage on a 2" with 31 muds; took it to a mechanic discovered my distributor needed replacing. Try checking: the distributor, spark plugs(gaping), BOTH o2 sensors, wires, and maybe check the for stuck open fuel injector. Or it could even be someone stealing your gas.Good luck

how is your jeep running? what size tires? auto or manual?
i have a '97 auto 4.0, stock on 225/75/15s. i get about 225 miles per 14.5 gallons = 15.5 mpg. i drive about 70% city/30 hwy. Still disappointed in the mpg. should be getting about 18 i'd say.
run seafoam 1st, then do a tune up and see how it changes.

I get between 250 and 300 on about 15 gallons around home. But when I go visit my dad 160 miles away I average 25+mpgs with an average speed of about 62mph I'd say.
1989 4.0 auto 4" lift 31s and 3.55s. Also last winter I averaged 15-17 in Full Time.
My worst was 11mpgs this fall in our first snow but I'm 18 and I did what most 18 year olds would do in fresh snow
I'm happy with 15+
Check your air filter also.

Update I've driven 33 miles intown today and it says I've used 1/4 tank........maybe my gauge is bad? Maybe this lack of fuel milage is also causing my smoking issue when I acclerate?

My 96's best tank was 230 miles. I have the 20 gallon tank. But Ive got a 4 1/2 lift with 33's. I think it should be better than that but I dont really know.
