Default How hard to add coil spring spacers???

I have a 00 XJ and currently have the leafs off waiting on OE shackles to come in. But I am thinking about adding a 1.5" Teraflex budget boost kit instead.

Since I am replacing the front shocks this week anyway, how hard it is to install the spacers included in the linked kit above? Do I need a coil spring press to get these in or is there another way to put them in?

You do not need a compressor. It does make things easier however.

You'll have to take a lot fewer things apart with a spring compressor. You can usually borrow them from parts stores, or at worst rent them, so it doesn't have to be a huge additional cost for the job, and in my opinion, is definitely worth it.

If you are going to do it without a compressor, you can do it with a jack. The compressor does add an additional safety margin. Whenever you deal with springs, you are dealing with both potential and kinetic energy. I have always used a compressor. In my opinion, it is much safer. I have seen first hand the horrors of what springs can do.

As 3278 stated. Most part stores will allow you to rent them for free. (You pay 100% up front and upon return, in good condition, you get your deposit back). It is crazy not to take advantage of the safety benefit.

When I did my 3" lift I bought some spring compressors from auto zone for $20. It was cheaper then renting them and they had a safety slide on them to lock the spring in the tool. Well worth the money and a heck of a lot easier to do the job.
