How good will this tread be?
I recently purchased tires off of TireRack.com, the image pictured was this:
These are the Kumho SAT KL61's, I didn't know this when I ordered the Kumho ST KL16's. Whose tread looks like this:
I purchased the KL16's for $58 and the 61's are $33 more... How much of a difference do you think the tread pattern will make in snow? I'm expecting them to call me back with a resolution for my issue on Monday... do you think I should try for the 61's in the first image? We're expecting snow on Thursday and if they're willing to ship the 61's I'm ok with driving on the tires I have, but before the big snow begins to fall I need them changed out... What would you do/expect them to do?

Depends on purpose and condition. Those are street tires that will work in very light offroad use. They should be Mud and snow rated, for street use. A M/S rating does NOT mean it will work in the MUD or SNOW when there is no road.

What does he have them on? And how does he think they'd do in snow? We get a lot of that...

I only know Kumho's from my import scene days. They sucked. Can't say I have experience with em on a jeep. Dont' think I'd want to.
Why not go with BFG A/T or something? Good all around tire. Great tread life. I think I got 50K outa mine when I had them and I switched them out before the end of their life. Probably could have got another 10K out of them.
Not the best offroad tire, but great on lighter trails, wet roads, decent in snow.
