Ok had a ball joint or two go bad so now Im trying to remove them and I cant get them out and I have no access to a press or a torch any ideas need to work tonight and Im sans a jeep

I don't know where your located, but if you have an Autozone in town, they loan specialty tools. Deposit is required (purchase price) and when you return the tool they refund you that. If you don't its basically a purchase (I still got the pickle fork I lost the reciept for years ago) You might try that. Good luck!

x2. I did mine 2 months ago and it wasn't easy even with the BJ press. I don't think there's a way to do it without, but it ends up being free to rent the tool.

P.S. When you do it with the press...remove the top BJ first. That way you can line up the tool to do the bottom (I had to learn the hard way).

I just went to Harbor freight and bout one for like 40 dollars. It has been very handy, I use it for all kinds of stuff besides ball joints.

Tool rental programs are pretty much the best thing ever invented.

Pickle fork, but that might be a major PITA.

They are, I probably own more than $8000 worth of tools, its the specialty tools that bite you in the ***. You buy tools based on the things you do on a regular basis and then out of no where, Bam! I don't have a tool for that, ask your co-workers, your buddies, next stop, rent. It's always worked for me.

I agree, but I'm the guy that's always getting asked by my buddies and co-workers. But I guess that's bound to happen when you're the guy 12 ton press, blasting cabinet, cam bearing tool, leak down tester, etc.

To the OP, maybe ask in one of the regional forums and see of somebody can help you out if you don't have a part store rental available.

Ok thank you all so very much for the info. I kick myself in the **** for loaning my press set out in the first place and then never getting it back.So I borrowed a car went to autozone 185 bucks later I rented a press, so I did one lower in the dark with a flashlight did not know to remove upper first makes sense so now I know for tomorrow again thank you gentlemen

ive found that the one advance auto carries has way more things w/ it. but i havent looked at the vatozone one in awhile
