That looks bad, really bad because it has rusted through and after you get done cutting away all the metal that has rust on it the hole will be much larger.

I can see where the rust has spread and is on both sides of the luggage rack rail. It's even down into the metal behind the rain gutter.

When I started to clean a similar spot on my roof I was shocked at how large the repair area was to be.

I had a similar problem on my roof.

I measure the size of the hole and added 6" to it so I had 3" extra all the way around.

I went to the Junk Yard and CUT OUT the section of roof where my problem was.

This way I had the roof contour and did not have to mess with bending and shaping metal.

Have not done the final repair yet but the plan is the place the new metal inside the roof cutting it to fit and wither welding or 'panel bonding' it in place using body filler material to finish it off.


ANYTIME you see a TINY SPOT of rust it is the time to do the repair.
