Another question about this thing. Does anyone know about how much fuel would still be left in the tank when it runs out? I had to put a new pump in this thing when I got it running and I noticed the guage was dropping mighty slow. This morning the guage was showing just over 1/8 tank and she quit on me. OK so my guage is off, I can deal with that.
My real question now is how much fuel would be left in the tank. I put about 1/2 gal in it and then went to the store to fill it up. I only put 16 1/2 gal. in it. Would it run out with 3 1/2 gal left in the tank? Im just curious if maybe I didn't do something correctly when replacing the pump.

Oh and just for fun, 445 miles on 16.5 gal equals 26.9MPG. Something doesnt seem right about this picture.

Sounds like you've got some crud in the bottom of your gas tank. Happens alot on mid 90's chevy vehicles if you need an example.
And i think the stock gas tank holds 16? or 20, not sure which it is.

EDIT: did a little search, seems its a 50/50 of some having 16 gallon and some having 20. Who knows they may have came with both.

I wasn't aware of the 16gal option. Everything I have read said they had 20gal tanks. At least on my years (1997)

I know crud isnt the issue. When I replaced the tank I washed it out completely and had it clean as new just for that reason. You should have seen what was in it before I cleand it.

Ohh i can believe theres some nasty stuff that gets in there.. My buddys 95 z71 would die when it hit 1/4 tank it had so much crud in it. We literally drove 30 miles home cranking it and driving for about 100 yards and repeating the process.

My cherokee will still run with only 2 galllons in it. When I did the fuel tank mod I completly emptied the tank and only put two gallons back in and drove it to the station to fill up. I put another 24 gallons in it. I don't know what the minimum is but it should still run on 2.
