Default How do your interior lights work?

Hey all, installing a new (JY) headliner. My rear cargo lamp has a switch that doesn't seem to do anything, never has since I got the Jeep. It seems it should activate the interior rear cargo lamp for loading/unloading? the dome & reading lights work fine, but what is the functionality or the switch in the rear?

on a side note, the headliner is in really good shape and I grabbed the matching dome and rear cargo lights (from a 1992) but the wiring changed from a two to a three contact plug.

thanks Defiance
Is there a switch for the hatch that activates the lights when the hatch is opened? I haven't found one yet, that rear cargo light has so far just been controlled with the Dome.

The hatch switch is on the locking mechanism. they tend to get corroded.

Oh, I looked all over the opening and have never found a switch. That makes sense if its in the latch. Thanks, I'll check it out and will have my lights working when I open it!

if the button on that switch is loose (more than likely it is) then its in the dome light switch area. I wish i had a pic right now to show you since im at work but basically if i remember correctly i replaced with a very small toggle switch 2 prong, and hooked up the orange and white to it, then it worked. Hatch open lights up, flip switch turns them off, hatch closes lights off either setting (just like it should). But this may not be the same since my lights never came on if i only opened the hatch, but if yours does the same as mine then that should fix it.
