I'm trying to bleed my brakes with the motive bleeder. The cap I bought does not fit on there motive 1107. I bought a mc cap and put the barb on there but it's not sealing probably cause the rubber. People that used the motive brake bleeder on their xj what did you do
The way the Motive bleeder works is you pressurize the air in the bleeder bottle which pushes the fluid into the master cylinder and through the brake lines to the bleeder screws at each corner. If you don't have a good seal on the master cylinder cap when you're doing it, you can't get any pressure into the system.
With that system you have, you might need to buy some sheet rubber and cut a gasket yourself.
Did the 1107 Motive cap not fit at all, or did it just not seal well?
The universal cap is junk for the XJ. Don't use it.
Get the Motive 1116 or 1118 cap, which is the correct one for our Jeeps. It's a direct screw-on fit.
If you're stuck with what you have, wrap the master cylinder reservoir threads with Teflon tape to help the universal cap seal. Tighten it down hard. Use the bleeder at low pressure, no more than 15 PSI.
