Default How do you get a torx bit to the door hinge bolts?

There's not enough room between the door and the hinge to get a torx bit into the torx bolt, how is it done?

what i did was i went and picked up a torx socket that i was able to knock out the torx tip from the socket. then grinded down the back end of the tip to about 3/4 " long then taped the tip back into the socket. that left about 1/4" of the tip sticking out of the socket. BAM just made a stubby torx socket for the door hinge. it was worth the 10 bucks for the socket it prevented a lot of knuclke bustin'

Why do you want to take the doors off? Re-aligning them is a *****.

I have to take them off because I'm welding the hinge mount back on, (door is already out of alignment).

and why is aligning them hard, don't you just bolt them up and they're straight?

and yes I have to remove the door to weld it, i have to beat the hinge mount back to it's original position before welding.

theres a bunch of shims that you have to make sure you reuse. some of these shims are rusted and crack and cant be reused. done this numerous times and it never realigns like it did from the factory.

pulling your door off is probably your only option. can you weld the bracket back on with the door wide open?

which involves cutting the hinges right?

this way there is no rebalancing and trouble, just putting it back on right?

would this work for you too OP? You said your mount isnt in the right spot and needs to be banged into location?

hmm i dunno. seems like this would be really hard. it leans hard because there is nothing supporting it.

thats why you support the door to see if the bracket will line back up to where you need it welded to
