Default How do i get front coil springs on w/o spring compressor?

I just started on my lift lastnight and got stuck. It's the 4.5 RC. I cannot get the front coil springs on for the life of me! haha. Is there a way to do it without a spring compressor or am i doomed?

I have the LCA's off, sway bar links off, shocks off, and trac bar off on passenger side.

Any help is much appreciated.

Have you pulled the little spring retainers off the spring mounts on the axle?

You might be able to rent a compressor at Harbor Freight.

Oh, ok. I only had to pull the lower control arms off the axle to put my 3" Rancho springs on my Comanche. Are your brake lines keeping it from dropping far enough?

Try taking the UCAs off too and reattaching your trac bar. then put a jack under one side of the axle. You may even have to take the rotors off to get that side of the axle all the way down. IMO it would be easier to just rent a set of coil compressors from auto zone or something

Disconect your tracbar from the axle make sure ur shocks are off as well as tires. Then flex the axle out with a floor jack and install springs one at a time. Use ur jack handle to pry springs in. Thats how I did it atleast with 4 and a half in springs. If bigger u may need to disconect your lower control arms

Are brake lines still bolted to the body? Put a jack under the opposite side of the axel and jack it up a little, as you lift one side the other should drop a little. Push down on the end of the axel you are working on.

Look at getting spring compressors. If you are have issues getting enough droop to remove the stock springs you are going to have even more trouble putting the lift springs in, without compressors.

you shouldnt need any tools. I was able to get the coils on and off with just some ratchet straps and trans lift. if you run into problems connecting the trac bar. you might want to lift the axle more and push on the opposite rotor.
