There's no reason not to. Go for it.

Those quick clips were great on the assembly line, and that is their ONLY advantage.

If you want to keep the stock fittings you need to use the Lisle brand of disconnect tools. I tried the ones that came in different colors, but the material was too thin to push the locks all the way out. The Lisle tools are thicker and worked on the first try.

Default Cutting the end off saved me a trip to the store

Cut those stupid things off and just use regular fuel-grade hose and normal hose clamps. They are every bit as reliable and a lot less hassle.

I found that grit gets in the "quick disconnect" and prevents it fully retracting, so worked it back & forth while spraying degreaser.

That was the easy part, as my lines were also leaking, and to make matters worse, the steel lines are retained in the trans body by plastic clips

one of mine disintegrated, and while I was able to obtain a replacement, I ended up removing the whole arrangement, screwed metal adaptors with 3/8" barb fitting into the trans, and using rubber lines all the way

eventually those plastic clips will let go and leave you stranded, mine were very brittle

Can confirm. I was driving home from work one day until suddenly I wasn't. Engine revved, no drive. There was a huge slick of ATF on the road when I pulled over. Luckily, I already knew to put the 242 into Neutral and flat tow.

Remove the plastic bits and install a regular quality fuel injection type hose, slip hose over the bump on the tube, this will act like a barb. then use a high quality fuel injection type solid band hose clamp , clamp should be on the other side of the "barb" near the radiator.
I did this. nice thing is now I can easily replace the hose on the side of the road with no need for special tools and dealing with sensitive to dirt little plastic bits.

You can make a dust cover for the transmission line fitting by the radiator using rubber hose. Use emissions or fuel hose that fits snug around the line. Cut a little off the end of the hose and once the lines are connected, push the piece of rubber into the connection as best you can. Or, if the hose is thick enough, just butt it against the fitting. If its tight enough, it will stay put on its own.

Dont use washer fluid hose. The engine heat will destroy it. It dry rots.
