how do I figure out how much lift I will get with shackles. I have 2 sets 1 is 5 inches center to center and the other is 6 inches.I thought the 5 inch ones were an inch but my buddy told me the 6 inch ones were an inch.thanks for the info in advance
I was thinking about that for a minute. 2 inches, is going to net you 2 inches. If it were like a tire, yes it'd net you half of the overall size. But if you have a 4inch shackle, and go to 6inches, that is going to gain you 1 inch of lift, on each mounting end of the shackle. Lets see if I can eplain this with the following diagram:
BELOW::
In between each line represents 1 inch. In the first diagram, In between the 0 and the 1 is the mounting surface to the vehicle, and between 3 and 4 is the mounting surface to the leaf eye. In the second diagram, between 0 and 1 is the mounting surface to the vehicle, and between 5 and 6 is the mounting surface to the leaf eye. So given my cheap diagram, you can see that each inch will give you an inch.
