How to check aisin speed sensor(83503722)
Hi all,
I am driving a 1996 jeep xj L6 auto. Recently my jeep was submerged in a huge flood in my hometown. After the flood resided I hv no trouble starting the jeep. The engine compartment was safe but not the aw4 transmission and the transfer box. I have changed all fluid....no water in the transmission. The axle is mixed with water.
I took it for a spin and the gear shifting is not right....if D is selected....it wil not change to 2nd gear but straight to 3rd.If 3 is selected....it will shift to 2nd for super short time and jump to 3rd.If I accelerate it will down shift to 1st and skip to 3rd.
I have done all check on all sensors and cleaned the NSS....all is gd.I have done all the procedures I have gathered in CF and other places but in vain.
I have taken out the last sensor(as stated in the title) and wonder how can I check it. I have tried using the ohm meter but there is no reading. Is it shot?
I hope u guys and assist me and inform me how can I test the sensor.
I thank you all for the help.Any positive inputs will be greatly appreciated.

You test it in the transmission, so you got to put it back in. Put your ohmmeter leads on the terminals in the sensor connector. Rotate the drive shaft by hand and observe the ohmmeter , if your meter is a analog style the needle should deflect showing the switch is opening an closing as the rotor is passing. If your meter is digital you should see a readout as the rotor passes. I got this info from the FSM.

I just checked this sensor on my toyota this weekend (same trans). It helps to have a meter with the audible diode check.
-connect meter to sensor (helps to have tiny alligator clips)
-put trans in neutral
-jack up one rear wheel and spin it (assuming you don't have limited slip)
-i listened for the beeping on my meter. (once per D.S. revolution)
