Default Hot Hood

Hey my '95 Cherokee only has 140,xxx miles on it and the hood seems to get mad hot after driving it for only a short period of time. I burned my hand tryin to open the hood the other day after only 30minutes of driving at about 40mph. It kinda freaks the hell out of me cuz i dont want the engine overheating. He temp gauge reads normal too. Any insight?

this is common on MOST cherokees.. My xj's hood gets VERY hot as well.. I removed the fabric on the inside of my hood though.. When it rains my hood steams.. but its common to have a increase temp when you shut your jeep off, around 230-240 deg.. its called a heat soak.. but anyway i wouldnt worry yourself about it unless you start to overheat.. If you want to take care of the problem get a switch override for your e-fan or install some hood spacers..

This is why most people install hood vents. As mentioned this is common on XJs.

i wouldnt do hood vents, If you wheel a lot... I would do the hood spacers and override the e_fan switch.. the hood spacers kinda look weird though..
