Hello all on this fine jeep day!

I have a question about my 99 cherokee 4.0L. Whenever i turn the heater on at all lately, it seems to squeak from the engine like hell. I havent looked due to 2 days of rain, but wanted to go into it with some idea of what is going on.

Any help would be appreciated.

 

I know on the older Cherokee's when you slide the control over to the HEAT selection the A/C compressor kicks in for a few seconds. I'm not sure if that is possible on the newer XJ's, but it's a good place to start by checking the serp. belt. Otherwise it could be the blower.

 

I feel completely stupid, Other than checking to see if it needs replaced, what else should I check? Not that car-savvy..

 

Haha don't worry about it. I think that's all the moving parts on the HVAC that could squeak when it's turned on.
