Hey Y'all,
Just bought my first 2001 Jeep Cherokee Limited this past weekend!
Today I come across an interesting problem. My husband and I were working inside my Jeep with the doors open and all of a sudden the horn went off. It continued to sound for about 30 seconds, then went off. At first we had no idea of the cause. About 2 minutes later the horn began to sound again; we got out of the Jeep, closed the doors behind us and the horn went off. Out of random curiosity I opened the door and left it open again. After a minute or so the horn when off again; I closed the door and the horn went off again. Long story short, we found out that if you leave the doors open too long the horn will continue to sound till you close the doors.
I'm not sure if this is remotely related to the cause of this problem... It was raining pretty hard today. This horn issue has never happened before today... Could it be a water leak causing a shortage somewhere in the vehicle? If so, where and what do I need to fix?

In both of my Cherokee I had an electrical short in the wire loom in the drivers door.
I would start there and see if any of the wires have rubbed over the years and is causing the short

@brg0012 I’ll check the wiring loom today once it stops raining.
@tech Yes, it does. But to my knowledge it doesn’t work. The keyless entry remote doesn’t work.

I thought of an alarm problem, too.
First step is to check that door wiring, though.
