Default Horn not working...help

My horn on my cherokee hasn't worked since I bought the car. The fuse is fine and there is still an electrical current running to the steering wheel. I know because it shocked me the first time I pressed on the horn with the cover off. What else is there to check other than just replacing the actual horn?

You know.. mine did the same thing when I purchased it. I tried to track it down, eventually gave up. I do not like messing around in the side the columns so I mounted/wired a momentary switch on the right side of the dash, next to the column. Within in easy reach, since I usually drive with one hand on the wheel and one hand on the stick it is as close now as it was using the center of the steering wheel.

Probably not the answer you wanted, but just an option.

Mine did not work and it was the horn that was bad. Are you getting power to the horn? If power to the horn then horn is bad.

At first I thought my horn was bad too, but after I connected it directly to the battery a few times it came back to life and works fine now, just wired differently now.

Yea the horn is getting power. I am going to try and rewire it though to make sure the horn is not the problem. Are there any decent websites to buy a new one other than a dealer if need be?

There is also a horn relay that could be bad.

If the horn is getting power and it still isn't working that would lead me to believe it is the horn. Most autoparts stores sell replacements.

If you want to test the horn.. wire it directly to the battery.

I just had to replace my clock spring. Horn works again and the airbag light is off again.

On my way up north the other day, I just realized that the cruise control doesn't work either. Any ideas? Possibly related?

Sounds like the clock spring. Both the horn and the cruise control use a clock spring.

So I forgot about the horn for a while while I was installing my lift and just went back to it. After realizing the horns were disconnected I reconnected them and now the horn wants to stay honking constantly with them plugged in. That must have been the reason they were unplugged. Why is that, anyone know?
