Default Hood wont open still!

So, I got my hood open before, and lubed the crap out of it. it worked for about a month but now i'm having the same problem. i have to take the headlight assembly out and unbolt the latch itself. my cable still works but i'm thinking it got stretched somehow? has this happened to any of you guys? if so any kind of input would be great. thanks in advance.

Old cable broke so I bought a new cable and installed it and it pulled so hard I pulled the handle off so I bought another and installed that one and almost could not open my hood so I took the cable out and dripped 3 in 1 oil down the cable from both ends and now it works slick. That was a year or two ago.

When I bought my XJ the hood would hardly open at all. I lubed the latch and that helped some was very dry didn't look like it had been done since it left the factory. It worked a little better but still hard to pull so I propped the hood open in the shop and started oiling the cable a little at a time most of the day every hour or so till I saw a drip on a white sheet of paper I had laid in the floor (oil & rust) of the Jeep under the EB handle. Then I tied a shop rag around the handle end of the cable and left the hood open for a weekend for excess to drain.

After 2 days I tried it and the old cable was smooth as silk opening the hood. I placed another clean sheet of paper on the floor and left the hood open for another 2 days and only a small drop or 2 on it, closed the hood and called it good.

The things people don't take of then ***** about amaze's me to no end or those who do no upkeep at all to there cars then complain about it being a POS.
