Do a search on here. There is a write up on how to get it open by removing the drivers side headlight housing. I don't remember who posted it. You should be able to find it.

The kick panel has to be removed to replace the cable and housing (they come as one unit) so I would just split the housing....yeah, it's gonna be a pain and then vice grip it to open the hood...But get the new cable first!!
My hood release cable snapped also. You have to cut some of the sheath off of the cable and then use a pliers to pull on the silver wire inside of the sheath and your hood will open....pull hard on it. I just ordered a cable from rockauto.com for $23 including the shipping.

To open the hood with a broken cable, you need to remove BOTH headlights, the metal "buckets" behind them then the 13MM bolts that hold the hood catches down. Open hood with the catches attached still.
Replace cable assembly. Done.

I had the same problem not long ago. Since I'm also into motorcycles, I have a handy tool for lubricating cables and a can of cable lube. $6 for a new cable from wreckers and a quick spray and its good as new.
I installed a generic replacement cable first from a local parts store and it broke IMMEDIATELY. I paid $60 for it too. the Mopar was $160 here in Canada. Does anyone know what the US price is on it?
