Hood cable snapped. Pulling pliers doesn't "pop" it. Am I screwed?

on each side there is the bolt you see & one you need to reach up to find
it screws into the plate that the latches sit on
13mm from what the discussion I have seen says

I am having that cable fun now too

anyone know what size the bolts are that hold the cable release handle bracket in place
all I found was the size torqz but not the bolt size ( and thread)

my old Jeep came with a busted cable ( and a vice grip for a handle)
the pull, plate & bolts are not there

Are you installing a new replacement handle and cable?

If yours bolts are missing, just buy 3 bolts at the hardware store that fit into the thread.
Do you want me to remove my bolt and figure out the actual thread pitch for you?

Removing the bolts behind the headlights is the way to go. There was a video tutorial on YouTube. I never just drop the hood. Just set it down then push on both corners until they click. And please don't use a prybar. It'll just tweak the hood and screw up the fenders. Last Jeep I bought had that done to it. Also I spray a lot of the bolts and nuts down with penetrating oil at least once a month. On all the suspension, brake lines, seat and seatbelt bolts and the hood latch mechanisms and whatever other parts I want to prolong the rust on and be able to remove at any given time.

I have been making myself a bit crazy attempting to find the actual size of the bolts
I even called a local dealer- he looked them up- they are just called screws- he could order them at $4.50 each & take 5- 6 days

all I can find is T30 Torqz does me a whole lot of nothing

Yes I am replacing the old cable- would be nice to actually anchor that down

There are some really nice videos on taking the front apart ( just hoping that one adjustment screw on the Left front that seems to be spinning place will let me get that light assembly completely out) I have a couple adjustment screws on order- due in today or tomorrow @ Auto zone - may be crawling in there driver's compartment with my SAE collection of blots to ball park a size------ this will be a 1 person operation (picture a 5"3" pudgy senior female) dealing with this 93' Std Shift SE ... all it really needs is a new radiator and Body transplant

the bolt size was the question
I had nailed it down to around 5 mm- based on a SAE I had that started in the hole- applied calipers to that....

what it Really take is 6 mm - standard off the rack at Auto Zone fit- crew was good to let me try before I bought because the Jeep was just outside

still waiting on the headlamp adjusting screws I ordered to come in & I can start taking things apart

on my '94 I had the stuck latches- busted cable thing going on
working solo I was almost ready to pull the grill and go in that way

on a whim I called my local Midas- the manager there & I have been doing business for decades- when I got this Jeep he fixed the loose steering column and remarked that when he was young he worked a a Junk Yard & took a Lot of these apart

I got a decent quote for replacing the hood release ( I had already gotten all the parts including replacements for the missing cable bracket "screws")

He has "magic hands" - he also had help- I had already doused the latches with PB Blaster ( I used one of those tube coffee stirrers to direct the spray) - the PB was on there for a day or so- So with Tim doing the push/ bang on the hood over the latches & one of the other guys on the busted cable with the vice grips- it popped- 1st one side then the other

- whole operation took them maybe 1/2 hour of actual work time ( this was a while waiting for parts for other jobs)
actually took longer to get the '94 thru emissions ( passed beautifully for the beat up and neglected puppy it is)

it was so worth the $100 and change not to deal with it myself
