Default Hitch Receiver

I'm looking to hook up a receiver on my 96 Jeep Cherokee Sport. I'm gonna be using it to pull a fishing boat and possibly hooking a chain up to it when someone get's stuck in the mud. What class do you guys recommend? Also you know anywhere that sells cheap hitches? I'm trying not to spend a lot. And any advice on hooking it up would be great.

I've used the run of the mill Reese class 3 universal ones sold virtually everywhere including Wal Mart without issue. They often are in the $120 price range. Out of sheer necessity, I towed our 24' travel trailer once (the poor XJ suspension didn't appreciate it too much but did the job) and the hitch showed no signs of problems. We tow a cargo trailer all the time. Just make sure the bolts are secured tightly throughout the assembly. I used my air tools and have never had any fasteners come loose. I'd recommend using thread locker also for safety.

Did you wire it up yourself too?

Get a ****** strap, NEVER a chain. Just get a universal class III from Walmart, or search for coupon codes for Advance Autoparts and buy it online there. I use codes on their site all the time and get free shipping or large percentages off to really drop the prices.
