Hesitation issues fixed? Maybe...won't know until tomorrow...
95 Sport, 4.0, auto, 178k miles.
I had a stumble/hesitation at maintaining speed...not on acceleration, not on deceleration, but on just pushing the gas in a bit to hold speed...intermittent, enough of a shock that it felt like a thunk of some kind initially.
Lately it had gotten a bit worse, rough/stumbly idle.
So, I got a few parts (since I got the vehicle and don't know when most things were fixed or replaced on it...). Tonight, I did the distributor cap/rotor, wires, plugs.
The inside of the distributor (at the contact points) was rough.
The plugs were Autolite (standard), and gapped at a minimum of 0.070 (per the label should have been 0.035) due to wear...they were clean however.
I have a replacement fuel pump, (filter is on the way), throttle position sensor (CPS was replaced a while back due to a hard start issue)...none of which are installed.
However...I bumped the heater control valve lightly...and broke off one of the attachment points for the heater hose....oops.
Can't test it until tomorrow when I get a replacement valve.
Thanks for the help on here....made my life a lot simpler.
