Default here we go with high voltage and a few codes.

So this happened on my way home from work. High voltage into 18s. And at stop ligh check engine comes up. In D it seemed like it was stuck in 3rd or somthing. Would go in to first unless i physically put it in 1st on the shifter. So heres the codes i pulled on my obd monitor. It a 98 4.0 with aw4 and 231 tc

Weird. I just had symptoms like this for a few minutes the other day. In my case, it was because my son had left aluminum foil wrapped around the alternator after pressure washing the front suspension.

Wouldn't hurt to to some noggin' pokin' under there and see if there's anything obvious.

Don't keep drving it like that!

id check batt volts directly with a trusty voltmeter, steo one.
