Help on Transfer Case Switch Sensor????

Help on Transfer Case Switch Sensor????
Swapping my 01 from 2WD to 4WD and I have a wiring for a 2 prong (it plugs in above the transfer shifter). The transfer case I am using has a larger piece (sensor or switch) with 3 wires. I got a 2 wire piece form another transfer case and was wondering if I can swap them or is there more to it. They both came from 99's and the small one will screw in. They are completely different shapes and not sure what they do. I hope the picture shows up. I am not sure what they do but only I like this and putting in the rear drive shaft to having the transmission part swapped over. Thanks for any help.
