Can someone please tell me what is the cause of the "slipping" sound that I hear (and feel) when I start off after breaking hard? Thanks.

The slipping appears to be somewhere in the driveline. I have found some reference to the possibility that the rear axle might be rotating....??? I feel sure there are others out there that do the same thing.

If its 4x4 you might need to drop the rear drive shaft and grease the splines where the drive shaft slides onto the output shaft in the transfer case.
