Default Help, oil pressure and running like crap *video*

Hey guys got a video this morning of how she's running and it's like crap.
She's a 1998 Jeep XJ limited 4.0L AW4 193,000miles
So the oil pressure gauge has been running low and I knew the sending unit was going bad and needed to be replaced. It has been reading 10 at idle and 20 when I get on the gas. At cold start up it might get up to 30 at idle then at temp it will be around 10. Oil levels are good, it's been about 3000miles since the oil change and I know it needs done.
It started to idle rough a month ago didn't think much of it, now it's running rough and then really rough to the point where the check engine light came on and started to flash. So it's now parked in the garage.

^ that's what it sounds like now. I plan on pulling the code this weekend.
I also plan on changing the cap/rotor/plugs/wires
Is it possible my oil pump is toast and the engine is not circulating oil like it should and its causing it to run like this?
I also saw in some research through the forums that the rotor spins the oil pump to circulate the oil, is this true?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm hoping the head is blown or anything cause this is my DD and now my wife and I are down to 1 car.

First thing you need to do is pull the codes other wise everything would be a guess. You should also verify the oil pressure with a mechanical pressure gauge.

Codes are epic and provide all kinda of info, just ask the local autoparts store.

A rough idle will cause the pressure to read lower than normal. Take care of that first. There is not much you can do for low oil pressure anyway if the engine is tired and worn. Engines don't require pressure they just need oil delivered to the moving parts. Even if you could increase pressure the underlying problem is still there.

Unless someone ran her without oil for an extended amount of time, that engine's still got a ways to go before it should have issues like that.

I always go the cheapest/easiest route first just to see if it fixes anything, I that were mine I'd Seafoam it to see if that improves it.

Don't give up on her. Mine has been running for a long time with only 4 to 5 psi.

you can rent a code reader from autozone. you get all the money back after you return it. you have a check engine light on and are asking us what the problem is all you have to do is read the check engine light.

I know that. I'm getting ahead of myself cause I work nights and sit at a computer. I'm gonna pull the code today or Saturday.

Could be something as simple as a misfiring plug. I doubt the oil pressure has anything to do with the rough idle.

Trust me that's what I hope it is. Pulling code later tonight or tomorrow.
