I have a '95 Cherokee Sport with 39K miles on it that I bought last summer. I recently had a car upholstery shop professionally replace the interior ceiling/roof fabric liner because the old one was coming down and sagging in multiple places. The issue I'm contending with now is the strong chemical smell either from the fabric, foam or adhesive. It's enough to make someone physically ill.
Is there a way to accelerate the outgassing or eliminate the smell??? I don't want to sell it, because it's in great shape otherwise, but I will if I can't eliminate this smell.

ozium. look for it at walgreens. I'd hit the interior with a healthy blast, leave the windows up for a half hour then air it out with all doors/hatch open for a couple hours. should really cut back the smell as ozium alters the air molecules and removes the part that contains smell. I love it.
this is what the can looks like:

x2 on Ozium.
If that doesn't work, you might try buying a 5-lb. bag of kitty litter and pouring it out into some big trays inside the XJ, then leaving the windows up for a couple of days....then opening all the windows and driving around for a while. ( I use the kitty litter technique to get rid of the musty smell of old books & magazines ).

I've done alot of interiors, just leave the windows cracked for a few days and drive with them cracked, a good air freshener and it will be gone in a week, I have done whole interiors (door panels, dash, headliner, everything and drove it the next day before, Only thing worse is fiberglass work, that smell takes weeks to get out
