help me save my renix 4.0
Alright guys, if you have seen my threads in the past(over 6 months ago) if struggled with dissapearing oil in my 88 4.0 266k. I had some leaks at first, I changed oil pan gasket, front crank seal, and valve cover. (Used good blue felpro rubber gaskets). Don't leak a drop except maybe starting a small leak from oil filter adapter. (not a lot at all just some wetting around there)
I had a problem with the rear ccv sucking in oil into the intake manifold. Over a qt every 100 miles. Brand new vacuum lines, and ccv lines all the good stuff about 8k ago. Checked to see if there clogged and nope.
So what I did was chopped about an inch off the valve cover flanges and drilled a half inch hole in the back. That solved it! Until now...
Just got under my jeep and saw drips of oil hanging off the exhaust and intake manifold bolts. Though awhh crap my valve covers leaking driver's side..nope worse. My valve cover gasket isn't leaking a drop. So I expected the worst. Pulled that line off the intake manifold and yep, it's dripping oil. Pulled the intake off the throttle body and what I found was horrible... litteraly standing oil in my intake manifold. Checked level of oil and it's 1 qt less than the oil I added maybe 75 miles ago.
My intake manifold is filled with oil, so much to where its dripping out the intake manifold gasket and onto the block!
I think this might be it for the old 4.0.. May buy a remanned one from eBay...
What do y'all think?
I'll put pics up in a sec

Front and rear ccv lines are clean,
I did a compression test about 6k ago but I'm sure the numbers have changed. Cylinder 5 had something funny going on. Dry was 160 something and wet was like 220 or something lol
I hope cruiser sees this. I wanna know if he's ever seen anything like it lol

160 to 220? Funny, using the correct method you shouldn't see more than 130
Methinks your rings in cylinder 5 are gone. I'd do another compression test.

This may determine the fate of my trusty ol 4.0 guys...wish me luck lol
Let's say a cylinder is dead, what would be better? A titan remanned engine or something like that or getting mine rebuilt? If I had the funds I'd put a 4.6 stroker in it
I can't have it down for more than 2 days. It's my DD. If I did the remmaned I could have it done in a day or two but a rebuild would take much longer...hmmm decisions decisions

What do y'all think?
Not really any driving issues except it runs ritcher than Bill gates and it pulls oil into the intake manifold.
What if I plug the ccv breathers so it can't pull oil and plug that nipple on the intake manifold?
Need ideas guys I'm looking into remanufactured 4.0s though

May just need a new head. The RENIX likes to crack between the valves on the one, and can blow the seal between the one and two.
Cylinder wear will tell the rest of the story.
