Help me please
Hey yall. I am new to here and jeeps in general, I just bought a 1992 Cherokee laredo for 300 bucks, good score. I am having trouble identifieying the rear axle, there seems to be no markings anywhere. I cleaned the webbing the axle tubes etc. It has an oval 10 bolt pattern and 3in axle tubes Im waiting for cam to work for pics. Im thinking its a chrysler 8.25,dana 60 or 44. Also I dont know if it matters that my jeep was fitted with a tow package from the factory.
Thank you
Thank you

Ok cool that would explain the lack of markings then. Um.....any one have any recomondations as what to do with said rear end, cause Im now bit by the bug that led me to build other trucks before, gears,(front and rear)lift, moter work and such but keep it driveable for wife

its not a bad rear. you could swap in a 29 spline 8.25 from a later year xj. i am pretty sure the 97+ had them. its not a big deal though just slightly thicker shafts. or you could swap in an xj D44 if you find one cheap. they are 30 spline but only have 2.75 axle tubes. so its not that big of an upgrade.
there also the ford 8.8 option
