Default Help me build my XJ

I'm getting my license soon and I have a 97 Cherokee Sport as my first vehicle. I have a job and have plenty of money. I would like to upgrade MPG, HP, and Looks. I have wheels picked out already. I would like to hear from some of you all on what I should do. I will be getting a lift In a few months. I'm more worried about making it run better, accel better and faster as of now. Thanks.

I'm not going to college. I'm welding straight out of high school.

The words mpg and xj just dont work together thats like using water to put out a grease fire just dont happen. And regear that will make it get up and go better and if you want more build a stroker but really just save your money for school jeep just empty every pocket

Do a complete tune-up plugs/wires/cap everything, then change oil/air/fuel filter, change trans. fluid and filter, then drain/refill transfer case, remove front/rear differential covers inspect gears, clean and refill them.

Those should keep you busy for a while and should be at the top on your list anyway if you haven't done them yet. After all this is the base of your project if it doesn't run you have nothing.

Replacing motor mounts & trans mounts will help with power transfer. Fuel Injector swap as well.

Go to school.

Best advice yet. Use welding skills to make front and rear bumpers also. As stated before not much can be done about gas mileage. But you own one of the best vehicles made.
