Default HELP! Just Cleaned Throttle Body & Now Runs Awful!!!

oK everyone heres whats up. i recently sprayed my TB down with TB cleaner and wiped it up and cleaned it up and when i started the engine directly after it ran really rough. i expected that but it should only run rough for a few minutes. its been about two weeks now and it is still running horribly. it has a really rough idle, almost stalls out when im at a stoplight. when im driving it feels like i have a miss somewhere, i have hardly any power and the entire vehicle is "lurchy". if anyone has driven a vehicle with two gas tanks, you know the stop/go lurching feeling the vehicle gets when one tank runs out while youre driving? thats the feeling this has all the time. it feels like it will have hardly any power one second and then the next it will lurch forward like its suddenly getting power, only to slow again like its not getting power. i checked the spark plugs, they are all fine. ive gone through about three tanks of gas since i cleaned the TB and ran a bottle of STP Gas Treatment through with each one. im baffled as to whats wrong. any help would be great.

Sometimes, what you clean the TB, especially on the butterfly, you will find a black build up around the edge and if you somehow get that build up on the edge or underneath of the butterfly it will never quite close all the way. Might Help! Good Luck!! Try Sea Foam!!

hey man i would suggest pulling the TB and doing a more complete cleaning you may have washed a bunch of junk into the vacuum ports on the side and check that there are no vacuum leaks and linkage is correct. i pulled mine to clean it and you would be suprised at how much stuff builds up in it.

Sometimes the crap you clean off finds it's way to the spark plugs. I've seen the gap bridged with a little "carbon-nugget" after cleaning the throttle plate.

Did you do anything else at the same time... ie tune-up, manifold, etc...???

Did you remove the TPS (throttle Position sensor) when you cleaned it. Did maybe get any fluids on the TPS. TPS is very sensitive and you may have hurt its feelings.

Also x2 on cleaning it and letting the gunk go through it. I suggest recleaning with seafoam. Put about a cap full down your IAC also.

What "throttle Body" cleaner did you use. You might have used something that your sensors down stream don't like. I.E. the MAP, O2, Manifild Temp., etc. The cleaner or crap you cleaned off could have gummed one or all of them up. X 3 on checking the SPs as well. You basically have a sensor that is not feeding the ECU the correct information. That is what is causing your sluggish performance.

Sounds like the TPS to me if you got any fluid in there the thing is screwed like Stryker said

I would agree to removed the t-body and give it a complete cleaning with a toothbrush and removed the IACV valve and clean that too.

Dont forget to pick up a new gasket.

It sounds like a tps or vacume issue like others have mentioned pull it and clean it and make sure the sensors are clean as well
