Help to fix real rough running.
Hi guys. I recently purchased a 94 jeep cherokee with the 4.0. When I bought it, it would crank up and run, but pretty rough, sounded like it had a misfire, would back fire a little, and wouldnt idle. When I got it home I ran a can of seafoam through it. After that when the engine would get good and warmed up it would idle pretty clean. Driving it down the road it ran pretty good, would back fire when you gave it alot of throttle but for the most part drivable. Then I gave it a good tune up, replaced distributor cap and rotor, plugs, wires, fuel filter, and fuel injectors. Now it runs way worse dosent run or idle smooth at all. You have to give it gas to crank it. When its running, if you give it too much throttle too fast it will die. When you drive it it has barely any power, it almost dies out for a second when you give it throttle under load to take off, then will go. You have to put it in neutral, rev it a little, then put it in drive or it will die when you put it in drive every time. It back fires pretty bad and has a very lean smelling exhaust. I have tripple checked and made sure I didnt mix up any of the plug wires on the distributor cap. Any help to fix this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
