Default Help buying a new xj

I already have a jeep but a good friend of mine asked me to go with him to help him find an xj...he is looking for a cheap but good one so what are some common things to look for...I am also looking for a "rough" xj to make into a trailer queen so what are somethings I need to look out for?

I would look at rust issues. Being a unibody I would think you would want to stay away from anything with a lot of rust. Also, aftermarket steering would be great I would also steer clear of anything with ALOT of aftermarket suspension stuff. It is better to be able to do it yourself (so you know how it is fixed if you break something).

I would recommend avoiding '84-86 models with the POS Chevy 2.8 V-6 motors.
Watch out for rusted-out floorboards (as other have pointed out).
I would recommend getting the best-maintained one you can afford.
MAINTENANCE is key to longevity.
Good luck!

Oh yeah, we want to see pics of whatever you get!
