Anyone know the specs for the Valve Cover bolts on a '91 XJ? I need to drill one out, and while I'm at it I'm gonna replace the gasket and buy all new bolts. I wasn't for sure if they were a specific kind or not. Thanks for any help!
Install the new screws using something like clear nail polish or LocTite #222 to retain them (and keep them from seizing,) or use a cuprous allow screw for a replacement (brass or bronze.) However, I've not had any trouble with those screws, and there's no real reason to not use carbon steel instead of copper.
Torque to something like 7 pound-feet/84 pound-inches (you should be able to find an exact spec on my site.) Let me know the length of the screws you get, if they're not for the cast cover, so I can update my notes.
