HELP!!! AX15 Not going into gear after taking apart : (
PROBLEM SOLVED!!!
Hello Cherokee Forum,
I screwed up and need someone's help that really knows these transmissions! I'm getting ready to do a AX15 swap in my 2000 XJ as my AW4 is about to crap out, but now I cant.
I took apart my AX15 to clean and inspect, transmission is low miles and looked great inside, everything came apart easy and everything went back together easy. Also before I opened this transmission, I was shifting through the gears no problem. I watched all YouTube videos on taking this transmission apart and followed every step. So the question is what did I miss here? Everything aligned and went back together no problem. I just feel like I missed something super simple here to cause it not to engage into gear. The shifter will only go left and right and won't even touch the reverse pin. It's like something is stuck.
If I can't figure this out I may just have to get the NOVAK transmission which I really don't want to spend that kind of money right now after spending $850 on this one, I probably should of just waited to get the new one : (
Here's a photo of the reverse pin in case something looks off idk...
*** Ok so I pretty much took the day off from work to figure this out and I got it and this may be helpful to others.. Basically what happened was the reverse gear was stuck in gear from when I put it back together that makes sense now why when in neutral the rear shaft was hard to turn. I found this video on YouTube and it worked, now I can shift through all the gears... This video below just saved me a bunch of time and money and I'm sure I'm not the first person to experience this....
