OK so my 88 Jeep Cherokee Laredo 4.0L was having troubles going into higher gears so I took it to Firestone tuesday, they took it out for a test drive then looked under the hood they said the distributor was lose so they tightened it for me and ran great so I thought. Today I noticed it was losing power going up hills, small or big. I was heading up one and it lost power pretty quick And then died on me when I was almost to the top, I put it in park And it started it right back up. I just don't know why its doing this. My distributor o rings leak really bad, and so I'm going through oil kind of fast my dad hasn't had the time to fix it or look at it. any suggestions would be appreciated though.

 

Does it downshift when going up the hill?
