Help
So my cooling system on my 1990 xj i emptied it than filled the block and reservoir let it run prob 25 min with the cap off and i seen air bubbles coming out i could not get the fan to turn on tho i checked the connection with a test light only 1 wire lit up so is my electric fan not getting a connection? I even revved it up slowly to get it hotter and it didnt overheat the coolant was boiling out of the reservoir and thats when i shut it off is my "closed" system burped properly i let it just idle for 30 min occasional revs and my gage stayed around the 150 mark never went to 210 if anybody can tell me if i did it right that would be greatly appreciated thanks... On the upside i got my heater workin

Oh no iv gotten my gage into the red as hot as i can get it but tonight its staying perfect so im assuming i burped it right. Iv heard to get it hot enough for the fan because that means that something in the cooling system is fully open "thermostat" i think and thats how you fully burp it i got it crazy hot an no fan

I had the cap off at idle as soon as it was boiling out of the coolant tank i shut it off i hit the very first line of red still no fan was my thermostat all the way open ? And when i shut the car off instead of going down all the way like my other gages it went all the way down on the opposite side. Also when i give it gas my oil pressure gage jumps is that normal ?

your thermostat was open. I would test your relay or just replace your relay with one that is new ( newer?) to see if that takes care of your problem. There is a way to jumper the fan to make it kick in but I don't have it near me right now. I will see if I can get it or if someone else knows that trick and is willing to share.
Well im going to run a seitch to it the whole point of the fan was so i could get my thermostat completely open to burp my coolant system. The fan is a sign that its completely open. But like you said it was completely open so no air pockets. Other than that i dont have any heating problems everything's good just wanted to get rid of the air thank you guys
