Angry help

ok so i installed another fuel pump and when you try to crank no fuel comes outa the main line and wires connected to selenoid get hot and smoke.....


SUGGESTIONS PLEASE :brick wall:

never done that before....what should i replace? coil, selenoid, anything else? WTF

would the ballast resistor keep it from pumping fuel? and cause wires to smoke by starter selenoid? cant find it neways...not on drivers fender?

BR wouldn't cause smoking issue. Something causing an over-draw. Careful with those fuel pump wires, you don't need even one good spark around those fumes!

Bad solenoid? Loose wiring? Gunk in the fuel line? I have no idea, I'm assuming the pump isn't running....

ok just tried again and it spit fuel out so i hooked it back up and it tried to run...a couple times now it wont start again....no fuel comin to fuel rail.

did you replace the filter if u did which im guesing you did try tracing the fuel pump wires back make sure they arent bare anywhere sounds like its horting out

ok i replaced some wires inside tank that went to fuel pump and new filter, still no luck. im so frustrated its unreal.

theres gotta be a fuse or elay for fuel pump. if so where are they located i have no diagram and all the relays look same. its on a 87 xj 4x4 laredo 4.0 aw4..i cant find anyproblems now it wont pump fuel... like it did just turns over...worked about a hour ago for a few it tried runnin and cut off.
