So i had the stock fan clutch and I knew it was pretty weak so i bought a "heavy duty" fan clutch from a member on here. I installed it along with a new radiator, water pump, hoses, tstat and housing. The Jeep runs fine and at idle it's super quiet, it's just when i hit the throttle this damn jeep wails like a friggin banshee!!! runs great and cool it just sounds like a friggin wind tunnel now. is that the norm with a "heavy duty" clutch, or the norm for a "non-working" heavy duty clutch?
Thanks in advance for the help, MUD

In addition to the noise, it's got to rob at least some power/economy as well. We experimented with one......couldn't take it off fast enough.

Odd. My buddy just put a heavy duty in his and it I didn't notice it. And he's reporting it runs a little cooler... or as we like to say in the XJ world, not as hot. He did remove the aftermarket electric fan because it was too loud.
