Default Heater core flush question

SO I'm going to flush my heater core and am wondering if I pull the two hoses from the top of the thermostat housing am I going to loose all the coolant in the system? Or just wats in the hoses and core

Just pull the hoses from the core.
Clamp them off with vise grips or just fold them over and tie it off with zip ties or black tape.
Then just flush the core starting with the lower line till it runs clear and then reverse.

Take the hoses off at the heater core and bend the hoses and zip tie the hoses and the only coolant you will lose will be in the core, and make sure you back flush the core.
