Default Heater-A/C Unit Part ID

I'm putting my Jeep back together after replacing the heater core. When I removed the Heater-A/C unit this part fell off. Can't figure out where it goes and I don't see any reference to it in the FSM. Can anyone help me out with this mystery?

What year is your Heep? That looks like it may be the Blend-Air Door control Tension Band.

Did you check your blend-air door mechanisim on the bottom of the HVAC unit and see if it is the tension band? the '98 has one.

Haven't yet but I will in the morning. Hope I can get to it with the unit installed. So far, I've installed the heater-AC and the instrument panel but I haven't bolted down the inst panel yet in case I had to get back in there. Thanks for your quick response.
